Delhi village is a green co-housing project forming in Whanganui, New Zealand.
It’s an opportunity to live in a village atmosphere, close to friends on shared land, but independent in your own house. The aim is to create a community that’s more environmentally sustainable, but with enough freedom to pursue this goal in your own way. Six households have purchased 12.8 hectares of rural land, and have received planning permission to subdivide and develop a grey-water system. The land is on the fringe of Whanganui, an arty, interesting provincial town of 40,000. Building sites in the village are clustered together, with the rest of the land available for orchards, gardens, growing firewood and grazing sheep and chickens. The steepest land will be re-clad in native forest.
There are a limited number of sections now available for purchase. If you like the sound of Delhi Village, have a look through the site and then get in touch.
